Great authentic Japanese food (I know because I am a Japanese) with a Belgian twist using Belgian ingredients like adding Brussels sprouts in Chawan-mushi (steamed wonderfully aromatic dashi pudding). Owner is not only a great chef, but also a very friendly and attentive host, making this venue very bright and warm. No wonder they got Bib Gourmand award only two years after they opened, and still keeps it! Thank you, Yoka Tomo!

Nous avons adoré notre soirée hier. Le personnel est hyper souriant et super à l'écoute. Nous étions assis au "bar" face au cuistot et c etait génial. Tout est préparé avec minutie ! Le menu ( une succession de plusieurs plats et assez copieux) est super bon, aucune fausse note, des goûts doux et forts à la fois, croquant et originaux. Et alors céruse sur le gâteau, un super choix de Saké ( set de dégustation etc...). Il y a un menu découverte et c'est topissime ! J'y retournerai avec grand plaisir!

The cook was not competent and ruined our experience. The service was ridiculous as we said twice that the we didn’t like what the cook served us and they didn’t even reply to us, like it was not their job to confront guests who pay €51,50 each to taste the menu with a beer. I found it scandalous. The food was the following: vegetables as a starter, tasteless and too hot soup with one shrimp only, fried salmon with cabbage and seaweed salad and one single slice of eggplant and the last dish was fried chicken with curry sauce and (overcooked) rice. A super salty miso soup was served after the third course, never seen something like this, it’s always a starter. So salty that we couldn’t eat it. Maybe a Belgian chef is not the best choice for a Japanese restaurant.

I was alone and of course, izakaya wise, set at the bar. It's nice to see the chef prepare the meals, instead of looking at my phone. Since they work with two table settings, you can take all the time you need to finish your meal. Most people take the set menu at 45 euro, which is certainly worth it's price. I had the fried chicken, the rice and the miso soup and it was all good. I love the Umeshu! Go there, and enjoy a authentic Japanese meal, that is NOT sushi NOR ramen. Itedakimaaaas....
